Welcome to my website...
"My name is Phil McCollum, and you can learn more
about me here..."
I am a resident of Long Beach, California and I have been living and/or working in Long Beach since 1977.
I was born and raised in Washington D.C. and attended college at the University of Maryland where I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering. Upon graduating, I joined the Southern California aerospace industry and took a job as an engineer at McDonnell Douglas (now Boeing) in Long Beach, California.
When I first arrived in California, I lived in Long Beach for several years, and then began a southerly migration to Huntington Beach and even as far south as San Juan Capistrano. In 1998, tiring of the long commute, I returned to Long Beach where I currently reside.
I remember the first day I arrived in California, a young man ready to create a life for myself. Everything was new and exciting as I landed at LAX and took a bus to Long Beach. Thus began my California adventure.
Over the years, I worked hard, played a lot of sports including tennis, basketball, volleyball, and soccer, and eventually settled down, got married, and had kids.
I have three daughters, Michelle, Monique, and Kathleen, and they're all
grown up by now.
Now I am 57 years old and I feel somewhat the same as I did in 1977. I’m once again single and ready to develop myself in new ways.
When not working or traveling, I enjoy hikes and bike rides around the area. I especially like riding my bike along the beach from Redondo Beach all the way to Santa Monica, or from Long Beach down the coast in the other direction to Huntington Beach or even as far as Newport Beach.
I also have good memories of hitting the beach and bodysurfing the swells of Manhattan Beach and Huntington Beach.
When I hang out at home in more reflective moments, I enjoy watching
football games, and reading books on diverse topics such as paranormal
activities, conspiracy theories, and spirituality.

"I found your
website a few days ago while looking for help with solving finned
X-Wings and I am really happy I did. Your explanations are a step above
other websites I have found as you have taken the time to explain and
illustrate in detail all the variables involved with a particular
concept. It may be more than is needed for some, but for me, it is a big
help as I am a slow learner. Thanks to your site, I now understand the
finned X-Wing and am ready to move into other advanced techniques."
