The weekend was a good opportunity to re-commit to my exercise program and get some meaningful activity.  Saturday I rode my bike down to the beach, with a round trip of about 25 miles.  This was a good solid bit  of exercise for me.  I had my camera with me and stopped frequently so it took almost 3 hours, but when I was riding a maintained a decent pace.

Sunday I had planned another bike ride, but the weather was overcast and cold.  This type of weather makes bike riding less enjoyable as the cold air is constantly a factor.  Instead, I opted for a hike around Signal Hill, a local hill in the middle of Long Beach.  It’s does not offer much elevation change, I think about  400 feet, so I had to walk up and down a few times to get the exercise I wanted.  It turned out to be a pleasant day.  Once I was underway, I warmed up and the temperature in the 50s was refreshing.

I’ve had a few struggles getting in the required exercise to comply with my 30 minutes every day plan for February, but the weekend was under control.  Overall, the goal setting has paid off big time by giving me the extra motivation to go out even when I felt a little lazy or when the weather wasn’t perfect.

I highly encourage everyone to utilize goal setting as I am to accomplish more of what you want.  Even when you do not fully meet your goals, you will benefit.
